Changing Landscapes in Small Gardens
"My garden was typical of a house of it's time and planning (1950's) - long, thin and bisected by a path and a traditional washing line. As Covid and lockdown kept us in our own spaces the need to make a change was essential.
Phil spent time looking at the garden's potential and what could be achieved within the space. He drew up a plan and immediately got rid of the straight lines. Introducing circular paths and new lawn areas made the garden feel wider and less rigid. Using his knowledge of plants, Phil has introduced new shrubs in the borders which provide softer margins and a variety of colours.
The pond and wildlife area in the garden is also a key feature. The nature pond has attracted wildlife and there is always something of interest to see. Pond plants have thrived providing shelter for a number of animals. The wild planting area is "wild" and has needed Phil to work on controlling some of the plants. However, it has attracted many birds and butterflies.
Finding a balance, with Phil's advice, has been helpful in developing its potential and ensured a variety of colour and height across the seasons.
It is a beautiful, enclosed calm space which is enjoyable and visited by friends and family"
